The Greater Louisville Association of Diabetes Educators (GLADE) is on a mission. That mission is dedicated to advancing the role of diabetes educators and improving the quality of care and education for diabetes patients.
As chapter of the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE), whose mission is dedicated to advancing the role of the diabetes educator and improving the quality of diabetes education and care, our purpose is:
- To provide educational opportunities for diabetes educators, so they can grow and develop professionally
- To help the diabetes patient so that they can obtain quality diabetes education, including the knowledge and skills needed to modify behavior and successfully self-manage the disease and its related conditions
- To foster communication and cooperation among individuals and organizations involved in diabetes education and care
Members of the GLADE organization are available to:
- Provide education, individually and in groups, to persons with diabetes and their families and/or significant others
- Provide educational sessions for community groups, health care professionals and other interested persons or groups
- Provide resources for information regarding diabetes, diet, blood glucose monitoring, medications and other topics related to diabetes
- Provide counseling related to coping with the changes inherent with the diagnosis of diabetes
- Provide referral to agencies, companies, and health care professionals as indicated by the person's individual needs
- Serve as advocate for the diabetes community to insure availability of high quality diabetes services
The GLADE Service Area includes counties in:
- Indiana: Clark, Floyd and Harrison
- Kentucky: Breckenridge, Bullitt, Grayson, Hardin, Henry, Jefferson, LaRue, Marion, Meade, Nelson, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer, Trimble, and Washington
